I've randomly broken out into hives again. It happened sometime in January. Doc gave me Claritin (since Benadryl knocked me ON MY ASS) and some Pepcid (apparently it helps?). So, I just took a shower and a Claritin. Seems to be working already. But she said if it happened again to come in again and they would maybe try some food allergy tests. But there was absolutely nothing similar in the circumstances from this time to lasts time. I'm just so confused. Cos I am the world's pickiest eater. I like, eat the same thing every week. I really hope I don't have a food allergy cos whatever it is will probably cut out half my diet!!

Aw, that sucks.
Nothing at all similar? What about hubby? Maybe something he wore, cologne, or some place he went? Then he comes home and touches you? Or you do his laundry and touch something on his clothes?

No. We've been together all day. He doesn't wear cologne or anything. Wash our clothes together. Nothing strange or out of the ordinary at all. That's what's so frustrating!

Sandwiches. Chicken. Cheeses. Cereal. I don't eat nearly the amount of fruit and veggies I should. I'm thinking if it does happen to be some sort of food allergy it's might be dairy. Cos my lactose intolerance has been acting up more recently, too. Grrr. I LOVE dairy. I tried soy milk and ice cream last week just to see. And it was NAS-TEE. Ugh. I don't want a food allergy.

i would recommend removing dairy from you diet for a week and stay on the claritin. see how things go. food allergies do suck...but it can be done with the proper motivation. and support.

:-( Damnit! I guess I can try.... Do eggs count as dairy?

No. dairy is mainly cow milk...but that also does include any goat cheeses and the true buffalo mozzerella.

the biggest food allergy offenders? dairy, wheat, corn, egg, citrus fruits, nuts and for some members of the nightshade family (tomatoes, potates, peppers, eggplant)

of course anyone at any time in their life can develop food sensitivites to any number of commonly ingested, loved foods.

if the symptoms are severe enough a person does what they have too.

(((Switch))))

i would also recommend SET allergy testing if your insurance pays for it. basically you would be tested for pollens, moplds and inhalants with small wheals placed just under the skin of the upper arm. much more detailed and complete than testing on the back. thats old school. and more painful.

I did that one year, and never really worked out what caused it. I was in a heck of a state - I had to take antihistamine and use topical cream. The whole insides of my thighs and arms came up in one gigantic welt. We think maybe it was new seasons' nectarines, but I've eaten them plenty of years since with no drama.

Hope you work out what it is!
