The concert was awesome. As I knew it would be. :-) It was at a new place: The Venue at the Horseshoe Casino over in Hammond. The theater was very nice. Comfortable seats, which was very good for me. :-) There were supposed to be two opening bands - One Republic and Carolina Liar. However, when we got there there was a sign that One Republic would not be performing due to illness. :-( That's OK. Meant the concert would be over a little sooner than intended. And that was OK with me as I was already very tired by the time we got there. So, we just had Carolina Liar. And I gotta say they were pretty awesome. I enjoyed them immensely. Think I'll be looking up their CD. They had already taken the stage by the time we got there after eating dinner and I guess something had happened earlier with the lead singer's guitar amp. Because near the end of their set, Rob came out with a small portable amp thing to fix it and it worked! Rob The Tech Geek to the rescue! LOL But, yeah, he's cool like that. :-)

Then, after about a half hour wait, IT WAS ROB!!!! Yay!!!!!!!! So, I will admit I tried to record the concert with the mic on my mp3 player. Sadly, it did not turn out. It's all distorted and sadly sounds like complete crap. :-( I guess the sound was too much for my wimpy little guy. LOL But, here is the set list:
~Fire On The Mountain
~Give Me The Meltdown
~Real World '09 (Woot!!)
~Lonely No More
~Mockingbird
~Sunday Morning New York Blue (For all the married people that are still getting it on. Didn't make the record, and he's really upset about it so he plays it at all the shows. This was my potty break. LOL)
~Streetcorner Symphony (the drummer was really getting into this one and almost hopped off his seat a couple time and broke a drumstick during it)
~Natural
~Getting Late (A "happy little ditty about death" as he calls it. Which is completely accurate.) A couple guys from Carolina Liar came out and jammed with the band on this one.
~Still Ain't Over You
~Ever The Same - Acoustic (piano & guitar) and sooooooooooooo amazing. I got a little teary, I will admit.
~Cradlesong
~Someday (with a gorgeous piano intro by Matt Beck)
~Something To Be
~Little Wonders (from "Meet The Robinsons" Soundtrack): The story behind the song - Rob was in a pissy mood and walking his dog. He looks down, expecting the dog to be all sympathetic and pissy, too. But nope. The dog is happy as can be. As he said, it was like the dog was all "Hey dad! We're fucking walking!" So, the dog was more in the moment than Rob was and that's what the song is about. Being in the moment, etc.
~Fallin' To Pieces
~Her Diamonds
~I Am An Illusion
~Rest Stop
~Feels So Bad (Didn't make the record, but made like an iTunes exclusive or something like that)
~Smooth (Always feels like he's doing a cover even though he wrote it)
~This Is How A Heart Breaks

The reason he's not doing many MB20 songs on tour is because THEY'RE GOING OUT ON TOUR NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!! So, it's not that he doesn't like to play those songs. He does. Just with those guys.

So, all in all, he covered all my favorites from the new disc. I will admit, it always makes me a little giddy when I get to hear the bands I love doing the songs I've used in videos. :-)

So, yeah. That was the show. It was FANTASTIC. If you can, go see him. You won't be disappointed.
