I may have ruined my cast iron skillet.

I made a pork roast in the crock pot yesterday. First I seared it in the pan, like I do. Well, this morning, I looked at it and it still looked absolutely filthy. Hubby had cleaned it, so not sure why. I decided to try the thing where you put water in it and then boil the water to get all the gunk off. Well, I, uh, kinda forgot about it and it boiled dry. *facepalm*

I'm attempting to re-season it in the hopes that I just "cooked" all the seasoning off it. *fingers crossed*

Wouldn't that just scratch it all up? I thought the point of seasoning a cast iron skillet was to smooth out the surface to make it non-stick. *is confused*

My mom has her grandmother's cast iron spider; that's what she does to clean it.
