Baby Update!

Had the little man's 2 month appointment today. He's up to 12 pounds and 25 inches!!! 97th percentile for height and 50th percentile for weight. So, tall and skinny. Not really surprising. ;-) He also had his first round of immunization shots. :-( He didn't do too bad. Cried for a little bit, but then it was just sort of over and done. He has been pretty fussy for the rest of the day. But so far, so good.

We were also given the OK to go ahead and start weaning. He's been taking a bottle for a couple weeks now, so I'm not too worried about it. Just hoping he's not too fussy about formula. Cos that crap is EXPENSIVE. Oy.

He sound like my boys. They were (and still are) tall and skinny, though when they were babies, they tended to be in the 35th percentile for weight. (Shoot, my oldest may still be in the 35th percentile at age 15. He's 6'2", 135lbs.)

With regards to the formula, I bet he'll be fine. Sometimes they spit up more, because they may eat more, but that just means you adjust how much you let him have.

If he wasn't tall and skinny, he wouldn't be our son. LOL

I have a couple different kinds of formula I got as samples to try, so we'll see how that goes. I'm liking the commercials for the new Gerber formula I'm seeing, too.

Why are you weaning? You'll save on formula costs, at the least.

[identity profile] switch842.livejournal.com 2010-04-19 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Because I have nowhere to pump when I go back to work. So I'd like to get him on the bottle by then.

[identity profile] lovellama.livejournal.com 2010-04-19 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
That sucks. Why hasn't that law been put into effect yet?!? :(

[identity profile] switch842.livejournal.com 2010-04-19 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. It's a little ridiculous.

[identity profile] whisper99.livejournal.com 2010-04-19 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Invest in a breast pump and go MOOOOO. It's cheaper than formula and better for him. :)

[identity profile] switch842.livejournal.com 2010-04-19 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
See reply above. :-)

If I could keep pumping, I would. It's just not feasible. :-(

[identity profile] whisper99.livejournal.com 2010-04-19 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
You can't borrow a conference room or somebody's office? :(

[identity profile] switch842.livejournal.com 2010-04-19 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd rather not have to. Plus, I'm only going to be working part-time. So trying to take 30-45 minutes out of my day just doesn't seem like good use of my time. I'm OK with it. I've been kind of meh about the whole breast feeding thing, anyway. I know it's best, but it's just kind of a pain in the butt to me... *shrug*

[identity profile] whisper99.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a breast-feeding proponent, so I tend to nag about it and this is the last I'll say on the topic, I promise :) If you switch around your schedule, you can find that you probably won't have to pump while you work, just before you leave to go and after you get home. Just think of all the $$ you can save :) You can try contacting folks over at La Leche League (http://www.llli.org/nb.html) for advice as I found them to be a great resource.

*shuts up now* :)

WTG, little guy! Griffin LOVED formula. He was so much happier on it. I think my milk was substandard (little tyke didn't gain weight for 2 weeks). He was fussy all the time because he was starving. We used the Heinz one, and never had any of the issues people freak out about, like poor immunity (he was never ill once while on it) or ear infections. The only problem we had was constipation, so watch out for that. I'm sure you'll find one he likes. I see you've got a few different samples, which is good.

[identity profile] switch842.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm hoping he got my super immune system and we won't have to worry about him getting sick too much. Not looking forward to the super poop, though. Ugh...

[identity profile] littleheaven70.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait until he gets onto solids. PHEEEWWWW! *g* Griffin got a bit constipated from his formula, but from memory the poop wasn't too horrid when it did come out :o)

[identity profile] switch842.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
The poop can't be much worse than it is right now! LOL He's not going every day (which the doc said was fine). But when he does, it's A LOT and boy is it STINKY! I gagged the other day when we changed his diaper. *shudder*

[identity profile] littleheaven70.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Griffin used to go every diaper change and then just stopped. He didn't poop for a week, then had a gigantic orange up-the-back blowout while we were visiting one of my old school friends. He was wearing white, too. We had to stick him in a bucket of water. Ahh, the joys of babies. :o)

[identity profile] switch842.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes. The blowout. Or, as my husband is fond of calling it, the poonami! LOL We've had to cut him out of one onsie already because of that. Blech.

[identity profile] littleheaven70.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
OMG, really? You had to cut him out? LOLOLOL. Babies are amazing with the amount of poo they produce. We used to call it The Apoocalypse :o)

[identity profile] jessm78.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, I'm so glad to hear he's doing well! :)

[identity profile] switch842.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! So are we. :-)

[identity profile] gateruner.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like he's doing great! I hope the weaning thing goes well, good luck with that!

[identity profile] switch842.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he's doing awesome! :-)

Thanks!

[identity profile] mackenziesmomma.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like he's doing well. Mine is (at 4) a square. She's 42 inches tall and 42lbs. It's kind of odd really.

[identity profile] switch842.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
That is odd! But kinda cool cos42 is the best number ever being the answer to life, the universe and everything. :-)

[identity profile] mackenziesmomma.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I was kind of snickering over that one when the nurse weighed her and she gave me an odd look. I just gave her that amused smile back :-)

[identity profile] eviljr.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay's!

[identity profile] switch842.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
