Well, that didn't go well... (& WTF??)

So I attempted to color my hair again, this afternoon. The last effort seemed to be wearing off already and the gray was totally showing through. Do Not Want. So, I picked up one of those kits that color and then highlights (this one). I wanted to try and tone down the red as much as possible as it was just looking weird as it faded. This looked rather close to my natural brown hair color and then a nice highlight. The base color went fine. Then, I went to add the highlights. Unfortunately, this kit did not have the usual shower cap with holes punched in it method of highlighting. So, I had to do it free hand. Yeah, it's very chunky and also, apparently enough of the red was not gone/covered up, so my hair is now a strange orange color. Oy. Luckily, I have an appointment with my stylist on Wednesday for a cut, so I just added time for color to it. Fun.

Also, I have been having some WAY fucked up dreams the last couple days. I don't know why. I haven't eaten anything spicy or weird recently. Here's a brief rundown: Brendan Fraser, another Narnia-esque type thing, a performing arts camp, a dance recital (that may have been at the camp, but I'm not sure, Stephen Dorff & tattoos (was also one of THOSE dreams), and something with a car... So, um, yeah. What is going on with my brain??

I'd done it before and it's been OK. I think it's just the reddish base I have right now that messed things up. Oh, well. It's not like it's bright orange or anything, so I'll be OK for a few days. But it definitely needs to be fixed. LOL

Yes, probably...it also gets complicated with grey added to the mix...I'm having a change around with tones and colors next time and was only talking to my hairdresser yesterday about it....with the red I also have to add an ashblond toner to the mix to compensate with the grey apparently...otherwise I'd have an uneven "ginger" tone too....if you think about it, it's all "alchemy"...chemical alterations to delicate strands of components...fascinating stuff and all for the sake of beauty!..LOL...

I have to say, I do miss coloring hair...it was my favourite thing when I was training....

Hair coloring is quite something, It's amazing they don't make hair dressers take a chemistry class or anything in order to get their license. ;-)

During my two year college class at the London College of Fashion I studied both chemistry and physics once a week...we made hand cream, shampoos and learnt quite a bit about the chemical reactions on hair, skin and nails....I also went on a couple of "outside courses" for perming and coloring held at the Wella and L'Oreal schools in London too....I loved my course...I did Ladies and Mens Hairdressing, learnt Wigmaking and also spent time doing some Beauty Therapy, make up, manicure and pedicure, as well as dabbling in a bit of Stage Make Up and Theatrical hairstyling.....it was a great two years....and I'm very glad I did it...and all in the centre of London's Oxford Street in the mid-70's...not quite as cool as the 60's but still pretty amazing...

Huh. OK, then. I guess it's more involved than I thought. ;-)
