I've been rewatching season 1 on the DVDs I got for Christmas, and, just man. This show is awesome. Especially Peter & Elizabeth. They're just so normal. They're kinda goofy, a little silly, not overly romantic, but still so much in love.

And I really have major love for Jeff Eastin and the writers not making Elizabeth one of those stereotypical "cop wives". You know the ones where like 5 years after they get married, the wife is all pissy and moany about the fact that he's never home, he's always working late blah blah blah. Dude. You knew what he was when you married him. Get over yourself. And she GETS IT. She does. He misses dinner sometimes, but she doesn't get made about it. And in Vital Signs, when she finds that business card or note with that woman's name on it in the laundry, most shows would have her get all jealous and upset. She just laughs cos Peter had to flirt and he's such a terrible flirt. And she has her own very successful career. She's her own woman. I just... I love her. Cos she's so real. She's so ME. And there's not a lot of ME on TV.

So, yeah. Yay Elizabeth! :-)

It's a whole incessant bombardment. Women's insecurity is constantly stirred and mined for profit. LOL, don't get me started. But yeah, hence why Peter and Elizabeth's relationship is so refreshing, because they're actually happy with each other and they don't doubt each other. They genuinely respect each other and enjoy each other's company. And more than anything, too, I like that they TALK. They communicate with each other like civilized adults. They resolve issues BEFORE they blow up into crazy drama. It's a wonderful thing to see on TV.

It is really refreshing to see a REAL relationship on TV and not one defined by various TV dramatic/comedic tropes.
