So, I've started watching Vampire Diaries at the request of a friend. And, dammit, it's actually really good. Even though it's on the CW there's really not a lot of that teen angst woe is me crap. There is some, but it's manageable.

And I like that they don't follow the typical girl-meets-vamp-and-wants-to-be-turned and other various stereotypes shit. Just when you think one is going to pop up, nope! Smacked down by someone. AND! The girls dress like actual high school kids in jeans and t-shirts and Converse and not designer dresses and mini skirts all the time. It's really refreshing.

I think Damon is my favorite. Not just cos Ian is smoking hot, though he is, but his character really is so much more interesting that Stefan. He starts off as the mustache twirling evil guy, but he's motivated by love and his feelings for Elena and he does kind of try and do good. Well, as good as he can given his situation. And for some reason, it just really amuses me whenever he kills someone and he'll just look to the person next to him and be like, "Take care of that." And they do! He just never cleans up his own mess.

And Nina Dobrev does an amazing job of switching up the Elena and Katherine stuff when they're both in an episode. They really are so very different. Kudos to her.

I'm a few episodes into season 2. I hope I can finish this week and then get caught up on season 3. My friend who got me hooked on the show told me this past week was really interesting with getting into the vampire origins.

Yay new show! :-)

Gah, I have so much love for that show. I thought it would be awful when it first started because I LOVE the books it's based on, but it's so, so good. I'm glad you're enjoying it! :D

It's really so much better than I thought it was going to be. We're definitely going to the con in April when it hits Chicago. :-)

If the photo ops wasn't ridiculously expensive it'd be even more fun! ($160 for the boys. Ugh.)

It's so good! Ian is totally smoking. I have a bit of a weakness for boys with black hair and blue eyes. YUM.

My daughter started watching it, and omg. With all the screaming and ooking (seriously, the blond girl who gets turned sounds like she's having sex ALL EPISODE for several episodes when she's really thirsting for blood, etc etc etc). And I'm with you; I expected it to be full of stupid teen angst. Not that teens and their feelings are stupid, just the way the CW tends to glorify those feelings. But anyway, I end up gravitating to the TV room when she's watching because darn it, I have to find out what's going on with all those interesting, loud noises!

They'd better watch it--the bad boy is always more interesting that the good boy--unless they switch him up a bit. It's not like he's *that* innocent, you know?

Yeah, the blonde is a bit of a slut. LOL It's definitely more on the Supernatural side of CW stuff than the One Tree Hill side, I think.

Yeah, Stefan definitely has a dark side that we've seen on occasion. But, for me, he's just a little more one note than Damon is at the moment. We shall see how he develops over the rest of season 2...

I also love it. I had my doubts at the beginning, 'coz i watched the first episode, and thought not much of it. But a couple of months ago, a sister of a friend of mine lend me her dvd's and i got hooked on the show. And yeah, IAN IS SMOKIN' HOT! Which is like a HUGE reason to watch the show (well, i am honest no? lol). That and that i ALWAYS pic out the hot bad guy as my fave in every show. *grins*

I'm watching S3 weekly now online, and it's getting interesting i must say. S1 and S2 were better, but this season has some interesting turns.

Yeah, the first few episodes were a little high on the cheese factor (fog? really?), but it toned down greatly and I'm really liking what they're doing with the mythology and stuff. A lot of times with shows like this, you get all these characters coming in and everyone has their own agenda, but not here. They're all essentially working for the same purpose, which helps keep the show interesting but doesn't make it too convoluted.
