So, you know all those online dating sites? Well, hubby and I agree that if, today, we were each to sign up for one, they would never match us up in a million years. We are definitely a case of opposites attract. It amuses me...

Oh, and you know what makes me roll my eyes REALLY HARD? Have you seen that commercial for the touchless home soap dispenser? I forget who makes it. But it is the most useless invention ever. You know why? Cos what is it that people do after they touch the completely filthy and germ ridden soap pump? THEY WASH THEIR HANDS! DUH! But someone is making like a million dollars off that dumbass invention. Ugh...

I LOVE Eliot/Sophie. It's never going to be canon, but I don't care. They're like the only het pairing I ship and I write!

lol It's amazing how people who are opposite just click.

Totally agree, completely lame product. I can't believe people actually buy them.

People are way too germaphobic nowadays. And you know what? Germs are good! In moderation, obviously. But, they, ya know, help build your immune system so when the really nasty bugs come along you don't die!

Since this is a random post, I have a question for you. I'm wanting to customize my LJ, but don't have time to start from scratch. I was wondering if I could use your code for your layout (or point me in the right direction). I'd like to use different colors and image on the header, but like the general layout you have.

I'd of course give you credit.

My layout is from here, actually: http://community.livejournal.com/thrashmetal/39488.html. It was surprisingly easy to install. Just copy the code into the CSS section of the customize area and there you are! Then I made a bunch of different header images I just replace when I feel like it. I made a couple other small modifications (the userpics are resized down to 50% in the original and the userpic border). So, if you want help with those things feel free to ask. Good luck!

Most people probably wouldn't get their current spouse as a match, lol.

I THOUGHT THE SAME THING!!

I really don't get those websites. I don't want to be with someone who is EXACTLY THE SAME AS ME. That's boring. And then I'd just be dating myself and I don't have that big of an ego....

Most of those dating sites are built off of a heterosexual normativity, by default excluding millions of matches. Not just by gender but by what constitutes a "normal" heterosexual relationship. I read an excellent article a couple weeks ago about the mathematics / statistical reality of those sites, by what they claim and what they publicly record. Your chances are extremely slim even if you are heterosexually normative.

There are a great many products that advertise based on the gullibility of the populace. Kinoki footpads? Airborne? Headon/Activon? Don't believe any of it.

My brother has had a couple friends sign up for one of those sites who got a response of "We couldn't match you with anyone. Sorry!"

Really? You have how many millions of people and you couldn't even get like a 50% match? Really? Ugh...

And after they finish washing their hands, they turn off the tap that they turned on when their hands were dirty.

Unless you're paranoid like me and use a paper towel to turn it off, LOL.

LOL And I was thinking how awesome the touchless soap dispenser was! hehe I love the idea of not having to touch it, even though, yeah, I wash my hands anyway. Still...I want it! It'll be just like a public restroom. ;)

ETA: I was joking about the public restroom, but I really love the idea of the touchless soap dispenser. heh It appeals to the OCD in me, I guess. Also, I love cracky stuff like that. I have those automatic sprayers in my showers, too. I suspect they do nothing. *g*
