Yeah, that wasn't fun. It's gotten warm here the last couple days and rainy so pretty much all the snow has melted. The only stuff that's left at the moment are the huge mounds that the plows left behind. So that's been fine, except overnight and this morning the temperature dropped below freezing. Which means all the water that was on the roads, froze. Duh. But, it was really thin ice, so you couldn't really see it. And I'm going down this stretch of two-lane "country" road on my way to work. It's 45/50 mph back there. And since there's not much traffic with all the schools off for the holidays we're all going up to speed. There's a traffic light on the way and we all go to stop. Well, guess what? ICE!! So, yeah, my brakes are working, but I'm just sliding all over the place and come waaaaaaaaaay too close to the car in front of me. The car behind me has to actually swerve into the oncoming lane to avoid slamming into me at full speed. Luckily, sort of, I think, something had just happened up ahead and these two cars were up on either side of the shoulders and so the oncoming traffic, with a garbage truck in the lead, were moving really, really slowly. But, damn! It was way too scary. Really don't want to go through that again. *shudder*
Please explain to me....
Jul. 6th, 2006 07:17 pmSo you're driving home and it's rush hour. You come to a stop light at a fairly major intersection where you want to turn left. The road that you are turning onto is crammed with traffic and the cars are all the way up to the intersection. You get a green light to turn. If you have nowhere to go, WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU TURN AND BLOCK THE FUCKING INTERSECTION?!?!?!?
I feel kinda stupid...
Jan. 10th, 2006 05:23 pmI got Season 1 of House for Christmas (yay!!) and manged to watch it all while on vacation skiing. Or so I thought..... Apparently, the discs are 2 sided and I only watched one side of the discs! Duh! I wondered why there were some things I was missing..... Oh, well. I'll get to the other half some point. Hopefully, this weekend. :-)
Oh, and have people completely forgotten how four-way stop signs work? This same thing happens to me all the time and it happened again on my way home and it's so annoying!! I pull up to the stop sign and there are mutliple cars at two of the other stop signs. Person to the right of me goes. Person across from me goes. My turn. I start to go. ASSHOLE to the right of me starts to go. We almost crash I honk (and flip him off) and stare at him like, WTF? Excuse me, it's my turn. Jerk-wad doesn't even look at me or acknowledge that he messed up. WTF?!?!? Seriously, have people just become completely idiotic drivers. Grrrrrrrrrrr..........
On the upside, I start ballet again tonight. Yay! But that means I have to tape House. Oh, well.
