Here are my reviews of the shows I saw while in New York. I managed to see four different shows in my time there. I think that's pretty impressive. :-)

Well, this is it. Getting ready to head out for one last New York breakfast and then into the hotel shuttle and off to the airport.

This weekend has exceeded every possible expectation I had for it. I regret nothing. I just wish I could stay longer.

Farewell, New York. I will miss you. I hope to be back one day.

Last day here in NYC and the weather is rainy and kinda crappy. :-( Taking it a little easy today cos my feet are killing me (though I did go over to MoMA this evening). I'm not used to all this walking. But, on the other hand, it's nice that everything is so close and I don't have to cab it everywhere. Yay for saving money! :-)

Darren's final show last night was just phenomenal. He really is an amazing performer and I hope he gets the chance to do more theater. The speech he gave at the end was so, so touching. Everyone who ran out early and missed it to try and get to the stage door can suck it. I cannot believe how rude those people are. You came to this show and paid a decent amount of money to see Darren in it and you leave early?? It's just so disrespectful, I can't even.... Ugh. But, anywho. It was amazing and he was amazing and I'm so, so, so happy that I got to see it. :-D

I've uploaded the pictures I have so far. The whole gallery is here and I'll put some behind the cut, too.

Oh. My. God.

You guys.

Darren is just... he's spectacular. I can't even believe that I get to see this. He's so fucking ALIVE up on that stage. I hope he gets to do more theater. You can tell how much he loves being up there and it's so amazing to get to see it in person.

And the show itself is just awesome. It's so funny and hilarious. Beau Bridges was fantastic and the guy who plays Bud was just spot on with everything.

On a somewhat sucky note, I decided to try for the stage door after the show. Complete waste of time. He's so short, I like didn't even get to see him. LOL Instead, I stood in the freezing cold for an hour and a half and by the time I got back to the hotel I actually could not feel my toes. I had to take a shower to warm up. It was awful. Blech.

I did get to see Wicked. This was my seat. Row F, right smack in the center. It was perfect. The show was perfect. I was bawling like a little baby, as I do. God, I love this show.

OK. Last Darren show this afternoon and then, I don't know... More New York adventures!!

And I haven't even seen Darren yet! LOL

I'm out to dinner with one of my friends and she mentions that the play Alan Rickman is doing is right around the corner and we should check out if they have any tickets for tonight. Alan Rickman? I AM IN. So, we go and they do. Yay! It's called Seminar and he plays this complete asshole of a writing teacher who only does private sessions with small numbers of students. Jerry O'Connell was one of the students. So, yeah. It was FANTASTIC. If you are in New York or coming anytime soon, go see this. You will not be disappointed.

Anyway, after it's over we decide to see what the stagedoor is like, cos why not? And it's not bad, so we wait. And then they all come out and we get our Playbills signed by the whole cast. So, yeah. I met Alan Rickman and had like a 10 second conversation with him but still OMG! ALAN RICKMAN!!!!!

Then we decided to see what the stagedoor was looking like for How To Succeed since that theater was right down the block. It looked okay, so we stuck around for a little bit. But then people started climbing on the gates and we decided to cut out while we still could. No thanks. But, I think I'm going to have to try after the show tomorrow night. I have to, you know?

OK. Time to go find breakfast and try to get Wicked tickets! :-)

Back for a day and then tomorrow morning I am OFF TO NEW YORK!!! If the weather holds out that is.... LOL

I'll be taking my laptop with me, cos I can't not, really. And there's a slim chance I'll be too chicken shit to go out and actually do anything by myself other than the shows I already have tickets for, so I'll need to amuse myself somehow. :-D

But I am so beyond excited for this, I can't even tell you. I just... I don't get to do stuff like this. This is a major thing for me to be doing and it just... It's gonna be awesome, right? It can't NOT be awesome. It's DARREN!! :-D

Yesterday, we had the annual New Year's Day gathering at the aunt-in-law's house. Hubby's family certainly have a lot of gatherings. But, they're a large family so I guess it's what they do.

Anyway, at one point we started talking about my impending trip to New York (18 days!!!) and how I'm just going by myself, etc. etc. One of the cousins had mentioned possibly trying to come with me for a few days, but that's probably not going to work out. So, then my mother-in-law piped up, "I could come with you."

...................

Um, no. I love her, honestly, she's great and under any other circumstances, I probably wouldn't mind. But, um, no way is my mother-in-law going to crash my Darren Criss Fangirl Weekend of Squee. I am 32 years old, I think I'll be okay. :-)

I'll be in New York from January 20-24!

TO DO:
  • Buy new black boots
  • Figure out what the hell to pack so I don't look like a stupid tourist
  • Arrange meet ups with all you awesome people that are going
  • Figure out what other shows to see (Wicked, Godspell and Book of Mormon are on the top of the list, but I've heard BoM is sold out, so we'll see.)
  • switch842: (Glee: Darren Polka)
Apologies if this is the third time you've seen this, but OMG I'M GOING TO NEW YORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hubby came home from work last night and told me he got a really awesome bonus and that, "Yes, you can go to New York."

I promptly freaked the fuck out cos OMG!!!!!!!!! THIS NEVER HAPPENS TO ME!!!!

So, now I have to actually plan the trip. It sounds like closing weekend is when most of you are going. So, if you don't mind dropping a line here or in my PM and we can start to coordinate things that would be awesome.

    Thanks!

    Hello!!

I'm back!! Had to leave very warm and sunny Florida and have now returned to cold, wet, rainy Chicago. :-P Hehe. THe wedding was great, though. Very relaxed and informal, which was nice.

Hubby is back off to New York shortly. I had to leave him at the airport. *sniff* But, good news (and kinda bad, too)!! He'll be back home for good November 3!!! Yay!!!!!!!!11 However, this means that there will now be no trip to NY for me in which to see Gale on stage. :-( *pouts* Oh, well. Guess it wasn't meant to be. He did say he would take me on vacation wherever I wanted to go next year to make up for it. I'm trying to see if I can get London out of him. :-D

All right, I'm gonna go make some brunch (since it's not even noon here yet), unpack, chill out, catch up on all the LJ missed.

    Later!!
    switch842: (Brian Back)
I just booked my plane and theater tickets to New York for November! Yay!! OMG, I'm so excited. My hubby, however, not so much. When I read him the summary of the play he was like, "What?!? What kind of play are you taking me to see?!?!" Too late. Bought the tickets. Tee hee. But also, BLYTHE DANNER! How awesome is that? She's so cool. It's gonna be so great! :-D Yay!
