So, um, I'm not gonna finish Buffy/Angel. I have two more discs left in the current seasons I'm on. I'll watch those and then, that's it. It's just not interesting to me. Hot and lovely as James is, I can't sit through all the crap and wait for him to show up any more. :-( So, oh well. I gave it a shot. Did the best I could. But it's just not working for me.

On the plus side, this will then free up my time for Supernatural once all the torrents finish. :-)

LOL

I'm not really a shipper of anyone on Angel. What did they do with Cordy?

Um, this is a bit of a sore point for me - I think "character assasination" best describes it, though it's a source of hot debate in the fandom. They had her become part-demon so that the visions wouldn't kill her, but never really fully explored the repercussions of that. But it turned out that afterwards she had the power to go all glowy, though she couldn't control it.

Then they did this lame thing where Angel and Cordy realised they were in love, and they were going to meet up at Point Dume to hook up, but on the way her demon guide, Skip (the one who made her half demon) turned up and said the PTB wanted to make her a higher being. So she went up into the sky. When she came back, early in S4, she had amnesia and didn't know who she or anyone else was. When she did get her memory back, she ran away. Then there was the "Con-Cord" icky debacle, where she slept with Angel & Darla's son Connor (who aged to about 18 in a hell dimension over the course of a few weeks) and became pregnant with a demon god who wanted to take over the world (natch).

What galled was they made her evil, and not one of her friends ever blinked an eyelid that she was so out of character. And then the writers retro-fitted the entirety of the show's history in an expositiony-flashback scene, going right back when Doyle gave her the visions, to service this god-awful storyline, which was by their own admission cobbled together when Charisma Carpenter fell pregnant in the hiatus after Season 3. It made a mockery of everything her character had been through.

When she gave birth to the demon (a fully grown woman named Jasmine, played by Gina Torres) she fell into a coma, and was barely mentioned again. An integral part of the gang suddenly keels over, and everyone just carried on like she'd never existed, until the 100th ep, halfway through Season 5, where they brought her back only to kill her off. /end rant.

Told you it was a sore point ;o)

Wow. That's, um...wow. Way worse than anything Mallozzi and company ever put us through. I think I'd be pretty pissed if I had gone though that, as well. I love Cordelia.

Yeah, it was awful. We kept watching hoping that it would be revealed as some sort of alterna-universe or bad dream, but it just got worse. What really annoyed me was the retro-fit of the storyline. They basically said that Jasmine, the demon god, had engineered everything that happened from Cordy getting the visions onwards to facilitate her birth, which negated all of the free will and personal growth in the storyline. It could have gone so many fantastic ways. But Greenwalt was the guy who loved Cordy and wrote her best, so with him went her character, and then when Joss got distracted with Firefly, the other writers took over and it was just never the same. Cordy did get a fitting farewell. She went out a well-dressed, quipping hero. *points to icon*

Wow. That's some major ret-con right there. Oy.

Glad to hear she got a proper send off, at least. :-)
