Torchwood
So, this was the series finale for Torchwood? Cos, really, is there anywhere they can go after this? Jack's gone. Ianto, Owen and Tosh are dead. Gwen probably wants NOTHING to do with Torchwood after everything she just went through.

All in all, Day Five was kind of a letdown. It was just like Boom! Over. Done. There was all this build-up to the problem and then 5 minutes to solve it. I hate when that happens. If the solution was that "simple" why didn't they think of it earlier? Oh, and Jack killing his grandson?? That was the Jack from 1965. Cos I don't know that Jack. That kinda pissed me off. What they ended up doing to Jack's character. Assholes.

Burn Notice
Michael Weston was a GREAT guest star. LOL He definitely played the crazy very well. I liked the job this time around and how it developed. I wonder if we'll see any continuation or further repercussions from this.

Harper's Island
I had downloaded episode 13 not realizing I hadn't seen episode 12. So the "Previously On" stuff had me scratching my head a bit. It is sitting on my DVR so I'll be going back to watch that.

That said, "Hi dad"??? WTF?? I was starting to realize it was probably Henry cos everyone else was just TOO OBVIOUS, ya know? But as to they why and all that I did not see that twist coming. I'm still a little over the whole "Henry wants to fuck his sister" part of the thing. And WHY did he have to kill everyone? I mean, is being psycho hereditary now or something? I'm just a little confused by the whole thing.

I am glad that Abby and Jimmy got off the island. And Shea and Madison. I wonder if anyone will ever go back to that island...

TW totally pissed me off. WTF were they thinking?!?!?!?! Just read an article about how RTD is just waiting for season 4 to be picked up by BBC.... But WTF is there to pick up after all of this?!?!

Bastages.

Yeah. There really is nothing to do with a season 4. Unless it's Gwen & Rhys take over Torchwood. Which, um, no thanks. TW is Jack. And Ianto.

Re: Harper's Island...

I'm still a little (wtf) over the whole "Henry wants to fuck his sister" part of the thing.

YES. Thank you! My mom and I have watched this since the beginning (BOBBY SINGER!!) but she didn't get the creepy incest vibes from Henry I did, she said my mind was just in the gutter, but I was like, "UM NO HE TOTALLY WANTS TO FUCK HER."

I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about the last ep. >_

It took me a minute to catch on to what he was saying. Cos I didn't want to think that, ya know? It was like "Is he saying? No, he can't. But... ewww.........."

Is it just me, or are the episodes just at the "okay" level this season? I mean, there hasn't been anything super wrong with them and yet I'm not getting that knock my socks off feeling...

Yeah, I get what you mean. This week's was definitely fun. It almost seems like they're holding back a bit as a build-up to something...

I haven't had a chance to see the Torchwood confidential yet but someone told me that RTD basically said they had to kill Ianto to break Jack so that he would sacrifice Stephen.

It was a great episode, and honestly unless they fix it or the new season is like fillers I am really hoping it's done. It was a decent ending to it. I am just sad first that there aren't more to rewatch and second that they never got to do a musical episode. And am really bummed that now I need a new Fandom, I would do Supernatural as I love that show and never miss it, but the fandom is honestly scary and intimidating, plus I worry that loving it to much will cause it to be for sure off the air after next season.

I should watch Harpers Island I watched the first two but for some reason couldn't get into it.

Hmmm... I guess that makes sense. I guess I just wish they could have found another way to go about it.

Yes, the SPN fandom can be scary. I try to stick to the safe zones and out of the communities that I know get a lot of wank and spoiler stuff posted. I seem to be doing OK.

TW. *sigh* Shit. I'm very mad at RTD.

Harper's Island. I had the same reaction to d/l 13 and realizing I hadn't seen 12 (it hadn't aired yet, so 12 and 13 aired back to back on CBS last Saturday), so I d/l that and watched them together. I was completely blown away by Henry. Now, being a psychopath isn't inherited, it's taught. But if a predisposition to mental illness is in the genes, that can help things along as it manifests after puberty (like schizophrenia). I figured that Henry's slightly twisted attachment to Abby laid the foundation, but he was in his teens when he ran into Wakefield, easily susceptible, and so came that sick reaction to having been adopted. Given all that, and how easy it was to kill his friends (typical sociopathic behavior) and kidnap Abby with no clue that she'd refuse, I thought it made sense (in psychiatric conditions) for him to confuse "sister" with "mate".

I am now very torn as to whether or not I want to watch TW when BBC America airs it. I'm just.... so disappointed in what happened.

Still not 100% sure I "like" how Harper's Island ended. I just...why did he have to kill EVERYONE in order to get Abbey to stay with him? It just didn't make any sense to me.

Yeah, I had the same reaction when I'd finished d/l all five parts. Then I found out about Ianto and I waited until Sunday to watch it. I'm pretty damn mad that they split up my favorite couple by nixing one of them. Grrrrrrrr.

I understand. But here's the deal. If I look at Henry as normal, then I wouldn't get why Henry had to kill all of his friends, his adopted brother and uncle, his fiancee, her family. None of them had anything to do with separating him from evil daddy. BUT. Henry was a shitload more sick in the head than just having bad genes. He willingly walked into a folie a deux killing spree with evil daddy (in Seattle) just to try and set up the only man who could take Abby away from him: Jimmy. Anyone else who could keep him from his ultimate goal--as over the top as it was--would end up dead, too. Basically, it came down to two things and the ending only revealed one of them: 1. Henry had a fixation on Abby. 2. Henry the Narcissistic Serial Murderer *liked* the drama, the subterfuge, and most of all, the killing. He went out of his way to execute his plan with literal glee and had fun watching the results. We're not meant to understand a mind like that, which is why I didn't mind the weird assed ending so much. I'd've preferred a different death blow to Henry, however, because that one was obvious before it happened.

I think maybe my issue with the ending of Harper's Island is because we never really got the "explanation" I wanted. How did he really go from "normal" teen to crazy psycho killer? I mean, we got a bit of it as Henry told his story to Abbey. But it just wasn't enough. For me, anyway.

Yeah, I agree with you. It wasn't enough that we got this weird explanation from Henry. Suddenly he runs into Wakefield and is told the truth and that's what turns him "whackjob"? No. It would not have explained Henry's behavior. If we'd had more of his childhood, it may have explained a few things. He apparently felt isolated and unloved--but those are feelings that would have explained JD, the so-called "black sheep", not Henry, and they don't make for a serial murderer. Not even after running into Wakefield as a teen. We should have been shown more of his childhood, even if it had been mere flashes.

Exactly! And he seemed like he used to be really close to JD, so those isolationist feelings must have come a lot later after their falling out. Which, by that time, it seems he would have been old enough to have better coping strategies in place besides going whacko.

Yes, precisely. While I loved the mini-series overall, the lack of *proper* explanation leaves me feeling like we missed something. Basically, we got handed a "jump the shark" moment and were expected to accept it. *sigh* Horseshit.
