My family came over today to bake Christmas cookies. It was just going to be my mom, but my brother came home early so he and my dad came, too. It was good times. Did the requisite sugar cookies and then peanut butter blossoms (peanut butter cookies with Hershey's Kisses. YUM!). We now have much sugar in the house that I don't really need but love anyway. :-)

And it looks like I may not be doing the Chicago SG con this/next year (2011). Hubby and his siblings are looking to organize a family trip with their dad for his Christmas present and with where their looking at going the weekend of the con is the best weekend to go. Sad, but I think I'm OK with it. I know it's the first year Judge was going to be back and I'll be sad to miss is craziness. And The Hewlett. But the SG cons were kind of going down hill in general, so I don't know.... And who knows, the trip may end up being another weekend. I guess we shall just wait and see.

Time to eat a cookie.... :-D

...to bring your child to a convention and not be "one of those people" who use said child for attention?

Here's the thing...

There's a discussion going on over at Gateworld in the Convention Etiquetee thread (go to the last page) about this couple who has been brining their child to convention for the last several years (if you've been to any cons, you probably know who they are) and them using said child to get attention, the child being disruptive, etc.

As many of you know, I was planning on bringing Gabe to the SG convention in August. Mostly because y'all want to meet him and I would like you to. The other thing is, hubby will most likely be out of town that weekend, too. So, I kind of have to bring him along. I mean, my parents are in town and could watch him if need be, but I don't know if I would be ready to leave him for a whole weekend by that point. Especially since I'm not really going out of town or whatever.

So, I want to bring him, but I don't want to be perceived as using him for attention from anyone. I have an aisle seat so I can quickly escape if he gets fussy, etc. But the other thing is, often times babies just naturally generate attention, whether you actively seek it out or not.

I don't know where I'm going with this. I just, ya know, don't want to get a bad rep, I guess....

I have a friend who can no longer attend the Creation Supernatural convention in October. She had purchased a Jared photo op that she is looking to sell. They are sold out on the website, so if you missed out, this might be your chance! Convention details can be found here. Let me know if you are interested. If you could leave an e-mail I could pass on to her, that would be great, too, as she is not on LJ. Thanks!

I want to be a professional con-goer. Seriously, how cool would that be? Just like travel the country, interviewing people. And not just the celebs, but the "regular" people, too. Think it would be possible to ever pull it off? LOL Especially in time to go to Dragon*Con since they just announce GARETH IS GONNA BE THERE!!! Ahhhhh!!!!!!!!

Anyone wanna road trip to Kalamazoo, MI? COLIN'S GONNA BE THERE!!! OMG!! It's only about 3 hours away.... And their ticket prices look much better than Creation. You can have LUNCH with your favorite actor! OMGOMGOMGOMG. I think I might HAVE to go to this. I could just go up for the day...

I will try to explain the situation as much as I can without going into too many specifics. Hopefully, y'all will catch on.

A beloved member of the SG-69 volunteer security group for Creation Cons has recently been posting on Gateworld and having lots of fun as we generally do. On one of the threads (a thunk thread), there was some joking going on with another member about an item donated by an actor that was up for auction on eBay and how much "fun" they could have if they obtained said item. While, this volunteer was serious in her bidding, I'm sure she was slightly exaggerating her fan-girl response to it, as we all do from time to time to have a little fun.

Well, it seems there is a Creation person who has been lurking on Gateworld. They seemed to take offense to the action of this person and told her that if she didn't "cool it" she would be "fired."

Excuse me? What the hell makes them think they can do this? If it weren't for us "fan girls" they wouldn't have a job. These people are volunteers. What gives them the right to dictate how a person acts in their free time. They are not paid by Creation, they do not get any perks from Creation, they have no tie to Creation at all EXCEPT FOR PROVIDING A FREE SERVICE. Understandably, this person is very upset by this and has stopped posting on Gateworld. This is completely unacceptable. We cannot allow Creation to push around people like this.

Here is what we need to do: Everyone needs to e-mail Creation as often as they can requesting Cliff Simon to be a guest at the Vancouver and Burbank conventions. Cliff is also aware of this situation as he is very fond of this volunteer and assures us that he will make as part of his demands that this person be his personal "guard" for the convention and only her. Cliff is naturally very upset about how Creation appears to be treating the volunteers that give up their free time to work for them. If enough pressure is put on them, eventually they will have to give in and know that they can't push the fans around any more.

We all know how Creation runs and what greedy, money-grubbing dipshits they are. They cannot do this and we cannot allow them to get away with this. Please spread this word to as many fans as you can so we can let Creation know what we think of them and their scare-tactics. If these keeps up, we'll stop going to conventions and put them out of business.

Thank you for your support.

(PS - Please do not mention this persons name, if you know who I am talking about. We would hate for to feel any more embarrassed by what is happening. The main goal is to get Creation to stop being so gorram mean!)

OMG!
